Spring is coming

Today was a beautiful day. Sweater weather, sunny and blue skies.
I worked out in yard for a short time raking all the dead leaves and dirt in the
lawn. There is a lot of work ahead. I don't know if my body is ready for it.
Grandpa is progressing quite well from his double knee replacement surgery.

Savannah, Georgia

Yesterday we left beautiful Hilton Head and drove to the last leg of our trip.... Savannah, Georgia. We have attended Sunday meetings every Sunday since we left and enjoyed them very much.
Today we attended the Georgetown Ward, met the full time missionaries. One was from Highland,Utah and the other from Idaho Falls, Idaho.

We took a fun carraige ride with a great lady with her southern accent who told us about the history and comical stories of the town. Many of the houses had Dolphin downspouts because they brought them good luck. We then drove to Tybee Island and stopped at a favorite eating place,... The Crab Shack.

Cypress Gardens, S. Carolina

This is about a 2 1/2 hr drive from Hilton Head. We came here 3 years ago.
We took the boat ride through the swamp with 4 other people. We saw some alligators and Yellow Glider Turtles. The water is clear but it doesn't look so because of the oil off the cypress trees. There is also a butterfly house and a small aquarium.

Charleston, South Carolina

We learned a lot about this city by going on a tour with an interesting
gentleman who seemed to be quite knowledgeable about it's history. We would have
liked to have taken a walking tour and go into some of the homes. I could not handle
that right now.

Notice all the iron works on the fences, gates, windows. This was all hand hammered
by a man who is over 95 years old and who has taught this art to others to carry on the trade. This was a sign of wealth and prestige years ago.

Hilton Head Island

Yesterday we were driving out from our complex.(Marriott's Monarch) There
are little ponds all through the island with bike paths to get where you want to go. We saw a fairly large alligator come out on one of the banks of the ponds to sun himself. (Next Day) It is cloudy today but wanted to get some pictures because is is supposed to rain tomarrow. The grounds are very pretty here, the ocean is just past the grounds.

The Great Smokie Mountains

We spent almost a whole day driving through these mountains on a rainy day
without much sun. We were hoping to see more color, but they were beautiful as
they were.

Daughtrey Cemetery in Harrison, Tn.

This gravestone has been haunting both of us since we found it. Located 200 miles out of our way to find it.
One headstone, very old, with only part of the name Daughtrey and l86? on it.
It was in the far back yard of a home, up on a hill in a grove of trees.
Dad had a strong impression while attending the temple before we left that we needed to find it.

Yesterday he got the information about the cemetery and found a man in 1999 who surveyed it and found one headstone. Dad wants to get hold of the man and find out why he surveyed it and if he knows who owns the property.

Dad found out that this grave belongs to a Thomas J. Daughtrey, he died March 1, l864.
He was a captain in the Civil War battles in Georgia. He was wounded there and later died in a hospital. His wife and mother went to Georgia and brought him back and buried him here in Harrison, Tn. but we don't know why.

A Stop in Kentucky

Kentucky is very beautiful with its green rolliing hills
We stopped at The Kentucky Horse Park. Located on 1,200 acres in the heart of Kentucky's famous Blue Grass

We also past many barnes with colorful signs to designate them as tobacco farms.
They had open doors with bundles of tobacco hanging to dry.

Sharing a sick day with Harper and Grant

Grant and and Harper were sharing a sick day.

Making Pumpkins and Ghosts in October in Ohio 2008

It has been fun visiting Robin and family. Emmie, Harper and

Grant have all grown up so much. We enjoyed some of their activities they like to do.
Picking delicious apples, playing and even sharing a sick day.
